Research Note:
I believe she is a daughter of Eliphalet Hale and Mercy Ballard. She must have been fairly young at her marriage, as David McBride had to show consent of her Mother.
    Amanda Hale and David McBride were married by Reverend John Strachan on Saturday, 3 October 1818 at the Town of York, Home District, Upper Canada, by special license. He was recorded as a bachelor and wheelwright of this parish, and she was a spinster of this parish. He signed an affidavit on the same day, stating that he is upwards of 28 years of age, and that he has obtained the consent of the mother of Amanda Hale to be married. Loal Hale, James McMillan, Samuel Leitch and William A. Robinson witnessed the marriage.
