    John Hale was born on Monday, 12 July 1717 at Boxford, Essex Co., Massachusetts, USA. He and Priscilla Peabody, daughter of Stephen Peabody and Hannah Swan, were married on Friday, 11 April 1738 at Boxford, Essex Co., Massachusetts, USA. He wrote a will on 18 July 1770 which was proven 28 October 1781. By it he gave to wife Priscilla one-third household furniture, pew in meeting-house, and use for life of real estate devised to son Eliphalet. He gave son John all the land lately bought of kinsman Moses Hale, with buildings thereon, exclusive one-third the saw-mill, "wh. I owned before;" also one-half salt marsh in Rowley; all his lands in Winchendon, except, etc; also "my servant girl Phillis;" all my out door personal estate, my wearing apparel and my armoury; also accounts, notes etc; he to pay all debts, etc. To son Eliphalet, all the rest of his lands in Boxford and Rowley, and one-third of saw-mill above excepted, he to come into possession of two-thirds on attaining age of twenty years, and the other one-third on death of testator's wife. To daughter Hannah, "now the wife of Dudley Perley," land in Winchendon, not given to John, being part of Lot 19, southern division, being with what before given her in full of her share. To daughter Mehitable, two-thirds proceeds of household furniture, also cash £40, to be invested by executor and paid her on attaining age of 21, or on marriage. Richard Peabody (brother in law) made sole executor.
     John died between 1770 and 1781.
