Philinda Hale was born on Sunday, 31 October 1784 at Chesterfield, Cheshire Co., New Hampshire, USA. She and Alfred Barrett, son of Benjamin Barrett and Dorothy Day, were married by Justice of the Peace Nehemiah Cumings on Tuesday, 5 August 1806 at Swanzey, Cheshire Co., New Hampshire, USA. On November 26, 1818 she and Alfred took out a mortgage with William H. Spencer, for a certain tract of land, situated in the southwest part of Township number two, in the town of Gates, Genesee County. It being the east half part of lot 1. They defaulted on the mortgage and it was listed for sale by public auction on the 24'th of August 1820. The newspaper announcement for the auction can be found here.
