    Asa Bebee was born on Thursday, 9 April 1829 at New York, USA. Around 1843, Asa Bebee, along with Minorris Bebee, Dorothy Day Bebee, Mack F. Bebee and Corydon Bebee, moved from Monroe County, New York to Will County, Illinois. After the death of his father, he returned to New York and lived with his grandparents for 3 years, attended school there, then finished his education in the district schools of Illinois. He appeared on the census of Wednesday, 18 September 1850 in the household of Ebenezer Walker Beach at Crete, Will Co., Illinois, USA. He was enumerated as: Asa Beebe, age 21, male, farmer, born New York, attended school within the year. In 1850, he went by overland route to California where he was engaged in mining for 22 months. He and Mary J. Wood were married on Thursday, 10 November 1853 at Illinois, USA. He went to Faribault, Minnesota in May of 1855 and stayed until 1860. He then sold his farm and made a trip to Colorado where he spent the summer mining, then returned to Illinois. In 1861 he enlisted with the Union Army, but did not serve due to ill health, and in the fall of that same year, returned to Faribault. In 1871 he purchased section 26 in Wells. He and Mary J. Bebee adopted Minnie Moore on 4 March 1872 at Faribault, Rice Co., Minnesota, USA.
