He was a man of immense size, said by tradition to have weighed over 500 pounds, and his belt as worn measured five feet. He had a voice of immense power and was a prominent and leading man in church and town affairs, both in Newbury and Rowley.
    Thomas Hale was born on Monday, 11 February 1658 at Newbury, Essex Co., Massachusetts, USA. He and Sarah Northend, daughter of Ezekiel Northend and Edna Halsted, were married on Saturday, 16 May 1682 at Newbury, Essex Co., Massachusetts, USA. He performed the marriage of Elizabeth Wheeler and Moses Hale, Thursday, 4 December 1727 Rowley, Essex Co., Massachusetts, USA.
     Thomas died on Wednesday, 12 April 1730 at Rowley, Essex Co., Massachusetts, USA, at age 72 years, 2 months and 1 day.
