Captain Ephraim Dorman

    Captain Ephraim Dorman was born in 1710 at Topsfield, Essex Co., Massachusetts, USA. He and Hepzibah Peabody, daughter of Stephen Peabody and Hannah Swan, were married on Friday, 11 April 1738 at Boxford, Essex Co., Massachusetts, USA. He went to Upper Ashuelot as early as 1738; gave the alarm when the Indians attacked in 1746; was a lieutenant in the militia in the French and Indian War; captain of the military company in Keene 1773-75; owned much land in the township and was a leading man of the community.
     Ephraim died on Thursday, 7 May 1795 at Keene, Cheshire Co., New Hampshire, USA, at age 85 years.
