James Richard Hillis

    James Richard Hillis was born on Friday, 21 August 1896 at Burk's Falls, Parry Sound District, Ontario, Canada. Dr. W. Crawford attended at the birth. He was deemed fit and described as: 5' 9" tall, dark complexion, blue eyes, black hair, Presbyterian. He and Ella Wanless Turnbull, daughter of George T. Turnbull and Sarah E. Wanless, were married by United Church Minister W. P. Lane on Saturday, 18 August 1928 at Seaforth, Huron Co., Ontario, Canada. He was 31, bachelor, postal clerk, Presbyterian, living at 219 College St., born Ontario, able to read and write. She was 30, spinster, teacher, Presbyterian, living in Seaforth, born Ontario, able to read and write. Miss. Mildred Turnbull and George P. Evans witnessed the marriage.
     James died on Tuesday, 5 August 1975 at the Peterborough Civic Hospital, Peterborough, Peterborough Co., Ontario, Canada, at age 78 years, 11 months and 15 days. He was buried on Friday, 8 August 1975 in Paudash Cemetery, Haliburton Co., Ontario, Canada.
