     Norman died on Sunday, 9 December 1917 at age 23 years and 4 months while flying in a Short Admiralty 184 Type tractor biplane seaplane, on patrol from seaplane carrier the Riviera, failed to return, presumed drowned. Reginald J. Robins, wireless telegraph operator also failed to return, presumed drowned. He was commemorated in the Books of Remembrance and an image of the page can be found here. He left an estate, consisting of back pay and gratuity amounting to $697, the beneficiaries were his mother and siblings.
